How we support our families

Our job continues beyond helping you find your donor, and even after your child is born. That means offering our support with everything from updates about your pregnancy, to helping preserve your baby’s future health, and even offering de-identified health information about donors and donor-conceived siblings, should you be interested.

Insemination reporting

Creating your report

Benefits of insemination reporting

Learning the outcome of your insemination helps us to share any relevant donor updates with you and manage our family limits more efficiently. And once you’ve shared a child’s birth with us, you’ll also gain access to a number of benefits that are available only to our California Cryobank families: Free newborn stem cell preservation and one year of storage from CBR®, Sibling Registry, Donor Keepsake, and Family Vial Vault eligibility.

Pregnancy reports per donor

Although it’s not an indication of a donor’s sperm quality (all have been extensively screened), each donor’s profile will note if we have received at least one pregnancy report for that donor.

Newborn stem cell preservation

Healing potential

Your baby's umbilical cord contains both cord blood and cord tissue, which are rich sources of unique stem cells that have potential for healing.

Transplant options

Cord blood stem cells have been used in more than 45,000 transplants around the world to regenerate healthy blood and immune systems.

Clinical trials

More than 200 clinical trials have studied using cord tissue stem cells as a treatment for conditions like Parkinson’s, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.

Our Sibling Registry

We created our Sibling Registry — which is exclusive to California Cryobank and free to our families — to provide you with the opportunity to interact with other families who have a confirmed pregnancy or birth using the same donor.

Choose how to connect

A growing number of donor-related families — both parents and donor-conceived individuals over age 18 — are finding each other, sharing information, and creating extended family ties around the world through our private Sibling Registry. The program is a great way to chat, set up an in-person meeting, or simply read about your child’s donor-related network on our secure bulletin board. Connections may range from simple "hellos" to multi-family reunions.

Family Vial Vault

Just for you

Whenever we can, we like to take the opportunity to celebrate those we’re fortunate enough to call our California Cryobank families. And because this is such a unique distinction, we also want to give you a place to connect with others who truly understand what it means to get here and move ahead.

Connecting with your donor

We’re always happy to try and facilitate contact between a donor and a donor-conceived child once they turn 18.
*
The extent of that connection will depend on the level of disclosure to which the donor has agreed.

Donor updates

Once you purchase vials you will be included in important donor updates as we receive them — including new information about a donor’s medical history, genetic screening, or other details that would be relevant to your child and your family.

Adoption Certificates

We’re happy to provide you with a certificate that specifies that the non-inseminated parent is the adoptive parent of your donor-conceived child.

Still have questions?

Each moment in this process matters. We’re here to walk you through it all — from the biggest “what ifs'' to the smallest “but hows.”
